The engineering club is a group of grades 3/4/5 students that meet on Day 1 during Tiger time. These are students who do not need extra intervention, so our goal is to offer them challenges and opportunities to expand their thinking. Our challenges have been low-tech to this point. We have completed projects such as paper airplane building, cup stacking, building the longest chain from a single piece of paper, and a boat challenge where they had to design a boat that would stay afloat while we add weights. Our current challenge is to create a marble run from recycled/found materials. I also have plans for them to do some challenges with technology and computer coding as the year progresses.
